I don’t know much about Beirut except that it’s the name of a band I really dig. Please excuse my ignorance.

The more worldly blogger would point out that Lebanon’s capitol was a popular tourist destination until the Arab Spring uprisings of 2011. Now, wealthy Persian Gulf visitors are heading to Turkey instead.

Beirut’s travel minister is working to bring back its Arab tourist base, NPR reports. As of this post, the State Department’s most recent travel warning urges Americans not to visit Lebanon.

Too bad. Beirut looks like a cool city.
